Well, the recommendations don't have anything to do with the quality of one spark plug vs. another, and Bosch may very well make a better quality plug than motorcraft.  The reason you don't want to use different plugs, and different spark plug wires for that matter, is that the length of the plug plus the length of the spark plug boot must very closely coordinate with the depth of the spark plug wells.  Otherwise you don't get a good seal and you can fill the plug wells with water and whatever else too easily.
