Buy the video from ShoNut and do it yourself. It's not THAT hard, just time
consuming. It took me 16 hours over 2 weekends.
The video is really good.

So I was trying to remove this clip last night to lube my speedo cable and I
could not get the stupid clip to release. Is there some secret to their
removal? I was pulling quite hard.

The trick is you don't remove the clip. Just pull out the cable and leave
the clip in place. Once the cable is out the clip can be replaced if it is
now FUBAR.

Do you mean the wire clip that holds the two halves together above the
transmission, or the lever-retainer that holds the top half to the speedo
head?
Anyway, I've had good luck in separating the two halves (lube the wire clip
and wiggle it, it will come out). Then the clip on the speedo head was never
an issue, as the top half of the cable had room to move. IIRC, the lever
gets pulled toward the speedo head, and the cable comes out relatively
easily.

Whoa, deja vu all over.........a few years ago went to the (same?) Nissan
dealer for a truck for my business. Had $5000 in my pocket for a down
payment on a $16000 truck. Took my info and told me they couldn't finance
me?????????? Dodge didn't have any trouble signing me up for a
lease......never did figure out what happened. But I really don't need a
Nissan.

You need to specify WHICH end of the cable you are working with.
If it's at the speedo head, you have to squeeze the clip properly to release
it.
At the connection in the engine compartment, pull the metal wire clip and
then separate the halves.
At the tranny, you're on your own, haven't done that one.
At the speedo head, it's easier if you disconnect the halves, then remove
the cluster from the dash , pulling the cable from the firewall. Once you
can actually see the speedo head connection, it's easy to see how to
disconnect it. I have large hands, so I can't get to the connector while it
is still installed in the dash.
My experience is on an 89. Since you didn't SAY what you're working on.....

Sorry for the lack of detail. I have a '91 and I'm trying to remove the
wire clip between the two sections. Now when I finally do get it apart what
is the recommended lubricant and method of applying it?
Thanks for your quick responses.

The cargo coils are just about the best thing since sliced bread. They do
not affect ride quality at all and are the absolute best "stock" spring
replacement out there. You will be 100% satisfied with them.

Subject: [Shotimes] clutch opinions wanted
I'm needing to have my clutch replaced. I've talked to a local shop about
doing
it. A guy here at work who used to have an SHO had his done there and
never
had problems with the work. So I'm pretty confident they can do the job
correctly.
My dilemma is whether I get the parts from them, or from shonut.
Obviously, all
the parts will be cheaper from shonut, but the shop will not guarantee the
work.
If I was only talking about $50 or so, I wouldn't really worry too much
about
it. But the price difference will be quite a bit.
The complete clutch kit from Josh, including seals and gaskets, along with
the
ceramic coated throwout bearing and release bushing, will be right under
$400.
The shop charges a little more than that for just the clutch, pressure
plate, and
throwout bearing. All the other little seals and bushings would be more.
There
probably would be well over $100 difference in price for parts.
So, do I buy the parts from Josh and get no warranty, and hope there's no
problems after the install? Or do I pony up the extra money and get the
guarantee, but miss out on the upgraded ceramic coated parts?
Questions? Comments?
