We had a '96 Sable 24 valve wagon.  Nice car.  Only problem was noisy bearings when
it started each morning.  (We got it with 19K miles.)  The CV does that too, when it
sits for a while....just a charactoristic of modular engines, I guess.  Decent but
not tremendous power...the 3.8 Slorider wagon is faster.  The tranny was the
limiting factor.  Too much slippage in the torque converter.  Best mileage I could
get was about 24 on a trip to Seattle.  Eva got about 14 in town.  (SLrdr gets about
27 on trips.)  Well made...no rattles, fit and finish was good.  

If I didn't already know about SHOs, I'd think it was fine, and keep it.  

It's gone, moved to Massachussetts.
