[Shotimes] Grinds when I put car into first gear

It just started grinding when I put the car in the first. It doesn't do it if 
i shift from second,third,fourth,or fifth to first, but it does if i go from 
neutral or reverse to first. This started happening after i was driving on 
highway other day and car all the sudden made huge sucking sound and it sound 
like something flew off or went through the exhaust. Anyone have any ideas? 
Car stills runs fine and everything. It just grinds in those certain 
circumstances with first gear.
