Unless you plot a dyno run throughout the entire rpm range, and look a
incremental increases, a dyno run may not show you much. It's a lot like the
UDPs, they don't shown much on the dyno if you only look at peak numbers,
but produce a definite "butt dyno" increase from the higher raw torque
throughout the range.
I don't have a VAK, but Paul has seen some strong performance numbers at the
strip from all of the incremental changes that he has done to his car.
Yes, you are being paranoid. This is only to be used for short bursts. No
harm, except that the PM can/probably will start acting flaky if the battery
power drops too low from a long extended use.....but how long do you drive
your car at full-throttle at any given time?
Folks have regularly had dying alternators, and it doesn't hurt parts except
for drivability issues. Theoretically it can shorten battery life, but there
are other issues that kill batteries more quickly (like excessive heat).

So there are no official Dynos that have been performed on a car
with/without a VAK? It seems to me that performing a Dyno would be a
natural part of the R&D associated with a product such as this.
I'm interested in the VAK modification but I'd like to see some numbers
first. In theory it seems like it could work well, but I'd hate to drop
time and money without better proof.
Also, could anyone speculate as to if this could harm the cars electrical
system over the long-run, or am I being paranoid? I'm thinking it would
probably shorten the life of the battery, which isn't a big deal. Are there
any other potential problems that can be thought of, especially regarding
the health of the alternator?
