The idea of the washers to raise the steering rack is to correct a bump steer
condition that can result when the SHO is lowered with aftermarket springs.
If you raise the front contol arms in relation to the steering rack (which is
what lowering springs do) you change the geometry of the control arm and the
tie rod as the suspension goes through its range of motion. This altered
geometry can cause toe changes over bumps which makes for a rude and twitchy
vehicle.
Your problem may be this but you may also have excessive negative camber
which is another by-product of lowering a McPherson strut suspension. The
only way I know to take negative camber out of the front of a SHO is to move
the top of the strut outward away from the center of the car. If the factory
installed strut plates have not been drilled to give you more camber and
caster adjustment, have this done first. If you still can not get enough
camber adjustment try Nook's strut adjusters from Pro Suspension. For the
rear suspension, the GTP adjustable control arms will do the trick. Once it
is right it will be worth the effort.
