[Shotimes] transmission problem?

4th at 70 isn't a horribly bad downshift, RPM wise. Did he rev the
engine to match speeds or just thunk it into gear? Did the pop sound
like an internal noise (clutch, diff, engine) or external (bushings for
subframe, motor, etc.)? When my diff went the warning sounds were a
crunch noise, usually while turning corners, at any speed and RPM
independent. Do you feel any kind of vibration through the clutch pedal
from the TOB?

I let my friend drive my car... big mistake. Anyway he said he was
driving
down the highway with the climate control airing it out. Which I never
do
cause its sluggish and sometimes makes weird noises. Anyway he said he
put it
in forth at 70 MPH and heard a big pop and smoke started coming out of
the
back. He pulled over and looked and everything was fine. He drove it
back to
my work, and now it starts to make all kinds of sounds above 4000 RPM.
If you
go to 5000 RPM it starts like clicking sounding like a spark. And a
glossy
black fluid is coming off where the transmission check plug is. When I
drive
it though it stills shift fine and goes into gear really smooth other
than
first which always used to grind but I was told that was my clutch just
not
disengaging or my synchros. I dont think the transmission is gone cause
it
still drives pretty much perfect, could it just be a leak in the
transmission
or does anyone think anything else?
