[Shotimes] Brake lights

I have a '93 Manual, but I think we're probably talking about the same
switch. It's up the brake pedal shaft aways. The problem with mine was
there was a spring mechanism and plastic plunger inside that broke.
Cheap part from Ford and easy to replace - cured the problem. Don't
remember exactly how much, but can look it up if you'd like.

'93 MTX - 110k, bone stock, just done with first (I believe) 60k (+ a
bunch of other stuff)and the thing runs like a scalded dog and I did it
all myself! Never worked on a car before this one and still feeling
pretty proud of myself right about now. Finally got it out on a highway
today and 85mph was smooth and nice. Some guy in an Acura (2.2 I think)
was playing with me a little bit but traffic was thick so I didn't
really take him on, but knew I could kick his ass if the opportunity
arose.

I have the same car, '93 Automatic. I've replaced my brake switch twice
in
the 4 years I've owned the car. It is up under the dash a little bit.
You
can sort of get to it by laying on your back on the floormat but you can
also take the lower dashboard cover off to assist. It's about a 5
minute
job all in all. Just disconnect the old and reconnect the new...not
much
more than that. As for shifting without it. With the car off but the
key
turned to the Accessories position, I believe it is, you can shift the
car
to neutral and start it. If you have the original car manual, it
actually
tells you this. Hope this helps.
