The problem with trying to do it yourself is that the mufflers sit at
different angles.  That's why the stock exhaust tips are different on each
side.  If you just lop off the stock mufflers and try to stick some
aftermarket ones on there, the driver's side muffler will exit into the side
of the bumper (kind of).

I would take it to an exhaust shop and ask them to put on some "turbo"
mufflers.  They can add sections of pipe where necessary to allow the use of
the same generic mufflers on each side.
