[Shotimes] A/C question

Well,

The RIGHT way would be to start the A/C running on MAX with the
doors/windows wide open. Remove the cap from the fill fitting and barely
start to thread the hose on. Pierce the can and purge all the air from the
hose. While the refrigerant is still leaking from the fitting, tighten it
the rest of the way. NOTE: IF YOU DON"T LIKE FROSTBITE WEAR GLOVES TO PUT
THE FITTINGS ON. You might want to place the can in a pan of warm water
(NOT HOT!) to help the refrigerant evaporate when the can starts to freeze.
Even with a gauge set it is still a judgement call on when it is "full". It
all depends on ambient air temp, discharge air temp and high side pressure
(which changes with speed and airflow across the condensor!) The only truly
correct way is to pump the system down and add the proper weight of
refrigerant specified.

Thanks, but I assume it's possible (probable?) to overfill with a whole
can...

Also, do I hook up the can, start the motor, turn the air on max - then open
the valve on the can?

Anything else?

Thanks again,

There is no correct procedure for topping off without guages.

You'll know it's done when the can is empty.
