I agree with Mark, the price guides are not valid for SHOs. Gen 3s, the
guides are priced far above what they actually sell for. OTOH, low-mileage
creampuff Gen 1s are worth way over the book.....except to insurance
companies.

Paul, I don't know where you got your Edmunds prices, but I get:

$1,534 (trade-in) $2,179 (private party) and $3,254 (dealer retail)

    That seems pretty low to me.  For the condition of the car, being a
fairly rare blue gen MTX, with the extra parts and the bolt-ons, I sure
don't think his asking price is out of line.

FWIW I don't put any stock into KBB or edmonds with SHO's, for an enthusiast
type car, those numbers dont' mean much to me.  It's worth whatever somebody
is willing to pay, that may be higher or lower!
