[Shotimes] Stereo Questions

I'd like to upgrade the HU in my '95.  The original is 2-piece CD/tuner,
typical, I guess.  What sort of innovative solution has anyone seen to fill
the second hole that will be left when I pull these out?  Is it a standard
DIN that I could put, say an equalizer in?  What else could go there?  I
don't have the upgraded system, just the premium sound; are the amps the
same?  Any hints here greatly appreciated.
