Have you ever replaced the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)? Sounds like it
may be your problem.

See if you can somehow get them to verify this when they check out the
tranny.

Good luck. Keep the tranny fluid fresh and your rebuild should last you
a long time.

Subject: [Shotimes] Jasper Transmission Impressions

>From what I understand Jasper is supposed to have a really good
reputation
for their engine and transmission rebuilds. Anyways, about 8 mo. ago I
purchased a rebuilt automatic transmission from Jasper for my '95. It
was
quite expensive I might add, with the dealer installation the total bill
was
almost $3000. Anyways...here are my impressions/concerns so far. Maybe
you
guys will have a little insight into this.

The Jasper transmission actually seems to be acting similar to my old
and
dying Ford original. Sometimes when I take off there is a huge
hesitation,
the transmission kind of 'stumbles' and then bangs into gear. It feels
almost as if the transmission were disengaged at first and then abruptly

engaged. Downshifts are sometimes near impossible, I practically have
to
floor the accelerator sometimes for it to downshift. It wasn't like
that a
while ago. Also, and this is one thing that my old original one was
doing,
oftentimes when I come to a stop, the transmission doens't automatically

shift all the way down to first gear, it will stay stuck in second
unless I
force it with the shifter.

I have a 3 year warranty on this transmission, I plan on bringing it
back to
the dealer Saturday morning where I had it installed and have them check
it
out, but I'd like to get some wisdom from you folks first. I sometimes
wonder if they even installed the new transmission or just kept the old
one
in there. I guess with a Ford dealer you just never know.

TIA for any help you guys can provide!
