If your fuel pressure is good, you're probably on the right track with
the CID sensor. It will get worse and worse, and if you wait it out
would give you a code (19 or 214 depending on year).

It's a simple job. The toughest part is moving the power steering fluid
reservoir out of the way. Then it's just 2 screws that hold it on.
Shouldn't take you more than an hour (even though Ford will charge 1.3
hours labor).

Here's a good post with pictures from SHO Forum

Good luck!

Subject: [Shotimes] Cam Position Sensor, How long to replace?

How long should it take to replace my cam position sensor? I'm having
some wierd strting issues and I have ruled out it being a failed fuel
pump check valve. From what I gathered from some ppl, when that parts
fails or acts up, the car will just guess when to fire the spark on
startup till it gets one right, It has acted up a few times in the past
but never to this extent.

Anyone have a rough estimate on replacement time?

Thanks

Bruce
