That is NOT a recommended repair. If I still had a Gen 3 SHO, I would not
allow it.

If you do that, a Gen 3 becomes as flexible as a Gen 1/2 SHO!!!  ;-)

Seriously, your friend got screwed, the insurance company did not do a
recommended repair.

That's not entirely true.  A buddy of mine was rear-ended in his '96 SHO a
while back...big old Tahoe smashed the back pretty good.

Insurance paid to have the left rear "quarter" cut and a replacement welded
in.  Turned out pretty good.  The work was performed by Fuller Ford here in
beautiful Cincinnati.

Total bill to make the SHO nice again: $6200.

Yes, insurance paid the whole thing, for a '96 with 85k miles on it (this
was 6 months ago).
