[Shotimes] headers

At the risk of a simplistic answer, any SHO that sees any street duty has
enough power over 6K, and would benefit from more power below 5K.
Sacrificing torque under 5K to get more top end is useless and
counterproductive......unless you like to only run the car at the Silver
State Classic. A fatter midrange would not only make the car feel quicker,
it will also quarter-mile much better.

FWIW, after a bunch of research, I put a chip in my 911 whose only mission
in life was to help the torque between 1-4K. The car is a lot more
streetable, plus it can run 13.98 at 102 in stock trim even though it's
heavier as a cabriolet, with me driving (who is no lightweight), fore a car
that was only rated mid 14s at best.

One of the cars we built this winter has headers on it. It's a 3.2
conversion with 3.0 cams and Shawn Paisley's old headers. The low end
torque is noticably low. From a stop, if you accelerate normally, at about
3000 rpms the car feels like you pushed the pedal down further. It just
kind of hops forward. I have been tinkering with the idea of making them,
but after putting them in, I'm not sure this is something the home mechanic
can do. It's a very labor intensive job, and even when you do it right, you
still have to be a contortionist to get the front header on.

The first time you have to remove your oil pan, you will start crying like a
child.

Definetly something worthwhile, but not sure I would spend $500 or more on a
set.

The car in question is a road track car, so the headers fit the application
very well.
