[Shotimes] Interesting...speedo question

I used to have this problem with my '89 LX... sometimes you'd be driving, I 
noticed during cold weather, the speedo would completely go nuts for a few 
seconds... dipping down to zero then completely pegging out to what would be full 
speed, all while maintaining normal driving speeds.  Ironically after I hit a 
deer at 60+ MPH 6 years ago.. it's never done it since.  It cost me 2500 bucks 
in repairs, (or rather the insurance company) but it fixed the speedo.  But 
my cruise control has never worked since that night.  Trade-offs suck!
