I think you comparing apples and oranges. A SHO is not
a drag racing car. It really isn't a road race car
(too big). What it is and what it was designed to be
was a touring car. The SHO's strong point is on the
open highway. The acceleration from 65-70 on up is
incredible. The car is blast to drive on the
interstate and on the back roads, that's what it was
designed to do. You can make it a drag racer or a
road race car and it will be respectable but it will
never be great at either(unless you are bracket racing
then mom's minivan suffices as long as you are
consistent). But in a heads up drag race you will
lose more times than not. The more mods you make to
get it good at drag or road racing, the suspension
mods the engine mods etc make the ride not as
comfortble as it was when it left the factory. The
car excelled at taking 1-4 people and moving them
comfortably down the road at a faster securer pace
than the more plebian cars out there. Trying to do
anything else with the car is an excercise in
compromise and takes you farther away from the
intended purpose. Yes the car is a high performance
vehicle but in this case that does not mean drag or
road racing. What it does mean is moving down the
road at a faster pace than normal with the ability to
accellerate and pass if need be or take corners and
off ramps without having to slow down too much.
