[Shotimes] Rod Knock or Tensioner Slap?

FWIW, it seems that the rod bearings make their sound between 2-3K rpm. I'm
not familiar with the tensioner noise, but the 2,400 rpm sound seems like
bearings.
Also FWIW, after my rod bearing noise in Frederick was diagnosed....after a
day of dragstrip runs and a long drive back to the hotel, I then drove (not
going over 4K rpm) 550 miles back home, then changed the bearings (the
car....a '95 MTX.....had 86K on it). The bearings were absolutely trashed,
and it looked like a couple had spun, but the crank was OK. See the Rod
Bearing pics: http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?username=rsporter
I would suggest not driving it, but I don't think there will be a problem if
you drive it easy.

Subject: [Shotimes] Rod Knock or Tensioner Slap?
Does anyone know how to tell these two noises apart?
I just realized my new 94 SHO makes more engine noise than my 250k '89 did.
It has about 100k on it, and there is a light tapping noise about 2400
rpm with light throttle.
Seems to be in second gear only. Can only hear it with the radio off.
Doesn't do it when cold. Only when warm.
Sounds a little like a rod knock, but very light, not like any rod knock
I ever heard.
I guess the big question is, do I need to stop driving it until I can
pull the oil pan?
