[Shotimes] Modded SHOs & useless powerbands

Well, at the risk of being jumped on here because I don't live in Snowbird
Heights...

The CORRECT method is to wear three pair. The inner pair should be silk to
allow moisture to pass through them. The second pair should be wool to wick
the moisture away from your feet and the outer pair should be cotton to
absorb the moisture. THAT will keep your feet warm.

ACTUALLY! The two pair of socks trick makes your feet prone to freezing more
so then with one pair
as they begin to sweat. :)I'm really curious to see what your car weighs in
at Don! Please do let
us know. :) As for the motors, I'm not completely aware as to how much power
the SS 3.2HC motors
make, but I'd really love to see what I can do w/ custom cam grinds and
lower power. As to your
post Mark, I agree with you. Things are DEFINITELY looking better for the
drag racing community w/
Josh T's stronger axles. I don't know about all the 3rd gear blues, though.
As far as the power
range with the SHO motor, I'd say it'd be hard to work around the intake
IMO. With mostly all
motors I've seen and have helped much more knowledgable gearheads build
(just to learn and i can
say "hey i bolted his 7sec cars' starter up! lol) I've found that even
"optimized" powerbands w/
certain bolt-ons don't necessarily affect the motor in those powerbands in
every case. I think the
SHO could use a more consistant setup for the passenger-side runners. I'm
sure they're ambient for
a stock motor, but w/ more air/fuel needed, i can see those last cylinders
struggling for air
compared to the first few to start breathing... Worse then say, a modular
4.6L w/ the TB right in
the center of the manifold. I also think a dual TB setup probably wouldn't
be useful, either IMO.
Too much calibration required for what it's worth. Perhaps a 3" cowl w/ a
rearranged set of
runners w/ dual TB's on top of the manifold rather then on either side, but
that would just look
obnxious.

It seems as if a lot of the areas of the motor that could use work are never
really worked on.
Expensive, sure. Howevever, I'd rather fork out $600 for a better intake
setup then $650 for just
a y-pipe. Esp when you can pick up a used one for $350 less or so. Another
thing that bothers me
is the heads. I know VERY little about the CC of the SHO heads as I haven't
found much literature
on them. The shim setup instead of rockers to me seems to be another
disadvantage, IMO. Sure you
have to adjust rockers, but it'd be nice to have optional larger & smaller
rockers as well as a
full roller setup. Now, this would require ***loads of money, however if
there were a way to
modify the current heads and adapt parts from the 4V 4.6L perhaps (not the
heads, just internals),
that would be wicked.

But now i'm just starting to get really stupid w/ my suggestions only
because it's money I highly
doubt ANY of us have to burn on something like that. Do you guys 'n gals
have any input on such
ideas? BTW any input on what a SS 3.2L w/ 10.1:1 would produce power-wise?
