[Shotimes] Electric Water Pump

One mod that has good potential but not mentioned is to replace the
mechanical water pump with an electric version. This would give a increase
along the lines of the UDP's. Gains across the entire RPM band and the
torque gain would be most welcome down low where the SHO is weaker. The SHO
Forum has a good bit of discussion but as always on the Forum I am not quite
sure what is really being done and what somebody is wishing to be done? But
the fact is, drag racing has pushed this technology to where it's usable for
the street. This is pretty analogous to what happened to the old engine
driven cooling fan. The on-demand electric version can release a few HP!
Especially at the 7K rpm that the SHO turns so easy! Maybe have a additional
feature to more precisely control engine temperature under PCM control?
Quicker warm ups and better engine cooling do to the variable flow? Plus
removal of the failure prone thermostat!

I have been searching to find prices but have found two common setups. One
is to just run the existing pump via a belt from the electric motor.
Probably not too usable for the SHO. The second one caught my attention
though.
How about a remote pump mounted in the lower radiator hose or that area?
Then leave the existing pump in place but remove the internal impellor.
Maybe even better is to leave the impeller but put a pulley like the A/C
compressor has on the water pump? Just a dummy pulley?

 Anybody attempted this?
