After the fun I've had in the 89 me thinks SVT should have done an "R" model
SHO similar to my 89 ala the 93, 95. and '00 Cobra R formula.  3.2L in the
lightest SHO body.  A/C/radio delete, sound material delete, track seats,
limited slip, wider wheels and upgraded front brakes.  If they would have
done that, SCCA might have actually classified the car :)
