[Shotimes] SHO Flywheel questions?

I wouldn't cheap out on getting the flywheel resurfaced. I went through
a 7 month ordeal last year with Aamco(they were said to do some higher
performance cars) before finally taking my car to Mark. He pretty much
determined that all my problems were from an uneven flywheel grind. I
had severe clutch chatter in reverse, so much that the only way to back
up was to try and slip the clutch around 4k. Engaging forward gears
wasn't very easy either. Spend the $40 to get a proper blanch grind on
the flywheel, it could save you a lot of headaches.

Well I pulled out one of the spares I have and it is just about
perfectly
flat. I'm gonna get some corse sandpaper for my palm sander and just
rough
it up for a good surface to have the clutch bite into. This is gonna be
a DD
car for the winter, and then I'm prolly going to part it out cause I'd
never
be able to sell it for what I paid for it. But all in all I'd like to
have a
smooth engagement on the clutch. I do also have a FW and clutch that
came
off the same engine, that I could put on there, though the PP had some
nasty
wear starting on it, so I'd have to use the newer PP.

Even at $40.00... It's a 6 hour job. Do you really want to re-do it
because
you wanted to save $40.00? What's your time worth? :-)
