I do an AFM (American Federation of Motorcyclists) New Racer
seminar at Thunderhill where the SF Bay Area SHO Convention track event
will take place next year. I take my stock CBR 929 street bike on three
year old street tires out onto the track and pretty much tip toe around the
course and come out of the last turn onto the front straight down 10 MPH
from racing pace. I still hit an indicated 145 MPH and the bike is still
accelerating hard when I shut down way early for Turn One. It will give you
a new perspective on fast when you do the event next year. It's a whole
other world on two wheels.
