[Shotimes] Continental Tires

Good news about Continental Tires!

The Contact Supremes that I bought at Tire Rack 3 weeks ago were
automatically covered by a road hazard warranty without additional cost.

I cut the sidewall of an almost new tire on Thanksgiving
with a large, rapidly moving chunk of steel. I have no doubt that it would
have gone through either the radiator, the oil pan, or the diff if I hadn't
taken the evasive action that I did, but it wasn't quite enough. But at
70mph with a tank truck in the lane next to me, it was hard to judge just
ware this hazard was going to land. I only needed another 1/2" to miss it,
but I wasn't good enough to do it.

The good news was that Continental bought me a new tire for the SHO while I
was at Tire Rack getting a set on new Michelins for her Nissan 4X4 pick-up
truck. The bad news was the fact that the new Michelins cost $520+ for a set
of 4. Maybe these will keep her ("who must be obeyed") on the road better
than the old worn-out ones that refused to grip on an inch of new snow, when
she kissed a mailbox and landed in somebodys front yard...

Thinking that the 4 wheel drive lever makes snow go away...
