[Shotimes] muffler shops and flex pipe

I still have the stock mufflers on after 13 years, and
they have finally started to rust through

I called the muffler shop today to set up an
appointment to have them put on my Summit Turbos. He
wasn't happy about my choice of mufflers. I picked
them because the shoforum guys seem to like them, and
they were so cheap I didn't have to think twice about
it. In fact, they were so cheap I might get another
kind of muffler and forget about them. I was just
going to have the summits installed onto the stock
tailpipe.

The muffler guy said they would be rusted in a year.
That only bothers me because I would have to talk to
this guy next year. I have had previous dealings with
these guys, and they are competent. Otherwise, I
woulda hung up on the guy, he was a jerk. They're the
only people around that advertise custom muffler
installation.

He also seemed to think that a flex pipe would cause
vibration, and recommended that I keep the donut seal
and hope that it doesn't fall apart again.

They advertise that they install 3" exhaust systems.
Is there a respectable purpose for such a thing, or do
you just put one on your 1500cc honda to get that
lovely buzzing sound?

Should I junk the Summits and get a better muffler?
What muffler? Also, I was trying to find a 2 1/4
tailpipe that bent down like the stock one, and didn't
whistle or sound like a train. Wooo-Wooo.
