Well if a company that would make them would like to do a slight cowl or
something along those lines it would be something that a few might be
interested in. I was kicking around the idea of a cowled hood for my
opal frost come spring, but if I could get a CF one than all the better.
Someone should post this info on the various taurus/sho boards, cause
that might generate a little more interest albeit from mostly from ppl
with eyes bigger than their wallets, but it would get the word out.
I too would paint a CF hood to match my car. There is no need to look
like a riced out civic or something, Might as well just slap a 4 foot
aluminum wing on the back of my car, loads of stickers, and then drive
30miles an hour in traffic all the time :-) I'd buy a hood for the
possibility of a small cowl to it, and the weight savings to the front
end. Now CF fenders would be nice too, and with all that I'd think that
one could shave a decent amount of weight off the front of the car.
There may be a few ppl around that would be interested in hoods and
fenders.

Rick,
The only catch is the cost. You can get almost ANYTHING
built, even illegal stuff, if you pay enough money.
The statement that they aren't interested because of too
little demand really isn't right. Wave enough money under
their nose and they will do ONE hood! Guaranteed! So that
is the catch, how much is a VERY small group of people
willing to pay to get this item?
Personally, the weight savings isn't the driving factor for
me, it is cost and looks. I would not leave a carbon fiber
hood natural, so I would paint it, and then the real benefit
for me is gone, can't see it anymore, except maybe the
underside. A carbon fiber appearance cover for the V8 makes
more sense from the appearance side. But again, cost is the
factor, at least it is smaller and easier to make.
I just hate that a lot of new cars have nothing more than a
plastic cover to look at underhood. It is a cheap and lousy
way to "clean up" the underhood area for those manufacturers
that just won't take the time/money to run wires/hoses in a
neat manner. NO other reason to have this type of cover
except to maybe keep owners from touching the merchandise!

Hi Rick,
We have the capability to produce a CF hood for the Taurus,
but arent interested in producing that as there is not much
demand for those. _______________________________________________
