[Shotimes] Fix 3.0 or install used 3.2???

Well... That sounds very familiar to my situation. I had a slight knocking
above 4000, no-one thought it was a rod bearing issue, but I got in there
cause it pissed me off not knowing. #2 from the flywheel was spun and I
think it had been spinning for a while. All the rest were fine, so I slaped
new standard bearings in them all, and now I'm a good 4000 miles (lots of
trips to Mark N.'s, Kirk D., a funeral in Indiana) 5 weeks later. Every now
and then I think I hear some knocking but it goes away so I think it is my
mind playing tricks on my.

Now I was pretty lucky, as there was no scoring to the crank, the face of
the rod and rod cap were a little chewed up, but not too bad, least I didn't
think so. I used a little emery cloth from the home depot to polish up the
crank, and I took a used bearing coated in oil and used the edge of it as a
scraper to find any high or worn spots on the crank. Other than that what
could I do, to me putting anymoney into a 3.0 is pointless. If I could have
changed just the one bearing I would have, but the others showed some wear
and I figured that I best just do them all before another one spins. Funny
though #3 had virtually no wear on it at all, but #1,#4-#6 all had the
traditional copper on the top showing. I've got a 3.2 in a parts car that I
think I'm gonna drop in whole very soon, cause I hate the idea of the engine
being on "borrowed time" as it were. My oil pressure is crap so I'm not sure
if the thing will last. Course me hammering on it don't help any. But my 3.0
needs a rear main seal, so I figure I'll just swap to a 3.2 rather than put
any more money into a block with problems, and I'll keep the 94 3.0 block
for the eventual bore out to 3.2 since I hear 93-95 3.0 blocks are a little
thicker than the 89-92 ones.

What's up all?? Not much here, just trying to seek a little advice on my 93
mtx SHO. I was going to put in new rod bearings on Sunday, tore it all down,
only to find a spun rod bearing. : ( I was wondering what should I do?? I
found a 93 3.2 in a junkyard with 145k showing on the speedo, the man wants
$400 for it, but I am unsure of its condition. I can get a crank kit for
$250, then I will have to get a rod for it, buy the gaskets, and then put it
together. I could replace the rod bearings in the 3.2. maybe do the lash
adj., and then put it in the car. I have new std. 3.0 rod brgs., plugs,
wires, intake and v/c gaskets on my engine now, but one of the plug holes
may be cross threaded, but I put the plugs in anyway, before I discovered
the crank problem. Any and all advice will be GREATLY appreciated, I am
stuck and do not know which route I should take. Thanks again!
