Mike:
The bulbs are called "12 volt T-3/4" . Hard to find. Don't even bother with
Ford or any of the auto parts places. Look in hobby shops. Doll house
section maybe? About 2.5X5 mm in size. No base just short wire leads. 8
bulbs total.
These are a set of instructions I got from Paul Hampton:
1. Remove CD player from dash
2. There are 4 Phillips screws holding the front face one. One on each side
and top and bottom. Remove all 4.
3. You will find 4 tiny Phillips head screws holding the top and bottom
covers on in the back.
4. Once you have all that loose, gently pry out on the sides of the front
panel, and pop it loose.
5. There is a black plastic sheet insulating the back side of the panel's
circuit board, held on by even tinier Phillips head screws. Take them off.
6. Under the insulator, there are a bunch of blue, rubbery, plastic light
diffusers with the lamps stuffed inside of them.
7. Using a LOW wattage soldering iron. Not your Dad's Weller 1200 Watt
unit!! Unsolder & remove the bad bulbs (Ohm meter will be helpful here.) and
yank the bulbs out of the diffusers.
8. Put the diffusers back in place, poke the bulbs inside them and solder
the wires down where the old ones were.
9. Reverse the above to reassemble.
