[Shotimes] Is my clutch on its way out?

For about the past month, I have noticed some things with my clutch that
have me worried. At least once a day, I experience extreme difficulty if
not impossibility in getting into first gear from a stop. If I pull up on
the pedal with my toe, it clicks once or twice and I am able, with still
some difficulty, to put it in gear. Other times, I just notice the clutch
getting squeaky/rattling, which is also temporarily fixed by pulling up on
the clutch and getting a click or two. The length of time between
adjustments and shifting difficulty or noisiness from the pedal varies from
a few seconds to several minutes of driving. In a day, I probably click the
clutch pedal up a dozen or more times. Also, the clutch pedal height tends
to vary quite a bit. Does all this mean I am in for a clutch replacement
soon, or is it just part of my SHO's quirky personality? TIA for your
replies.
