WD-40 is only good for one thing, and that is WD, what it was designed for.
That means Water Displacement.  It is not very good at penetrating,
lubricating, or protecting.  It works a little bit so people don't realize
that it is so bad.

The people that make that stuff are real good at promoting their product.
It is sold everywhere and has come to stand for all the things that we THINK
it does in the minds of probably the majority of consumers.
