My first job out of college was as an engineer for a town. My company
car(s) were the hand-me-downs from the police dept. The first car I had was
a '90 Caprice (square-body style), then I had a '91 Caprice (round-body with
the funny rear wheel opening), then I had a '95 Caprice with 260hp and dual
exhaust. Prior to the '95, the police decals and stripes were vinyl tape,
but the chief didn't like how they looked after a few years of service, so
the '95 had it's stripes painted on. Burgundy and gold stripes along the
sides of the car from nose to tail and then up over the trunk lid. The
paint they used was DuPont Imron - very tough stuff!! Peterbilt anf
Kenworth use it to paint their trucks. I think I'm going to have my white
slicers painted with the stuff when the time comes.
