Hello,
Well, the mystery continues. I got the SHO feebly started and it ran a
little rough, but was running nonetheless. It didn't seem 100% so I shut her
off after a few minutes. I went to start her a week later, and--nothing.
Battery is new and fully charged. The starter is a reman from Advance, which
bench-tested fine before I installed it. The battery cables seem in good
shape and were replaced about 3-4 years ago. New plugs, wire crank position
and cam position sensor from 1.5 years ago.
I need to get this car running again!
Anything else I should inspect? The DIS? The coil pack? I'd figure I get
some cranking even if either of these were faulty.
I do have a Viper alarm system on it and I wonder if there is something
about it that may be causing the problem. FWIW, it does have an
anti-carjacking feature which leaves the circuit open (I think!) if the
ignition is turned off by the bad guys, disabling the vehicle.
I have had that trouble with the ignition switch (interior) being 'loose'
and dinging with the key out--any chance that may have crapped out and can't
complete the circuit? When I turn the key there is no cranking, no clicking.
I can't recall if the fuel pump is priming. It was priming a few weeks ago.
If there is no priming, should I replace the ignition switch? Has anyone
done this on their car before, and any hints/writeups you can share?
Thanks for your help.
