[Shotimes] Raising the Steering Rack

I haven't done this yet but have the washers. Unless the subframe is loose
or off , I don't think you can raise the rack high enough?. You have to get
enough room to lift the rack all the way off the mounting studs. I have
heard several people talk about cutting the washer so you can slip in in
from the side. I think that loosening up the 2 rear subframe bolts and
getting the subframe to hang down a bit and have some wiggle in it would be
a plus. There is plenty of play in the tie rods to move the rack around. Let
this list know how it goes when you put them in.
Brings up a different question. What about the steering rack mounts? Do
these go bad? I am into Jaguar XJS cars somewhat and they are known for this
to go out and cause clunks when driving. The aftermarket has a nice
polyurethane mount to fix the problem. Never have heard this even mentioned
on SHO's? Does it happen?
