Further, a belt has a given life span and the consumer is made aware of it. Cams that have no visible means of holding their sprockets other than gravity are bound to let loose at some point in time. Ad the consumer when he calls ford is told he's the only one and they have never heard of this before. EXCUSE ME, posted #391 Cam FAilure last night. It's a public site, there is no secret handshake to get in there.
Real problem is simply the manufacturers choice to ignore the obvious and incur another round of litigation. What's even worse, for the most part the line level Ford Service Tech has no clue still about this problem and will continue to bump the engine trying to get a code - duhh don't you hear something awful coming from under the hood???? From where I sit guy has a right to be p/o'd - but point it in the right direction.
