As a point of reference, the 3.0L V6 in Alfa 164 I have needs to
have the timing belt changed every 30K miles as a precaution since
it is an interference design.
A key difference, between the two situations though is that in the
case of the Alfa, my owner's manual warns me about this and at least
I know enough to take action. In Ford's case, I don't think they
ever talked to their customers about this problem.
