Most people would probably say check the strut bearings and plates at the top 
of the front struts first.  Of course there are numerous other possibilities 
mostly suspension-related.
In any event my recommendation is, don't put off finding out what it is.  If 
you don't get it figured out by the time the cicadas come out, you'll go nuts 
for sure.

I have a frequent squeak/chirp when I drive. Sounds just like a small bird.
It is only when I am moving. From the driver position I seem to hear it in
the left front of the car.
