Keep them clean, and try not to wash them with dirty water 
at gas stations!  Keep a bottle of Quick Detailer and some 
soft cloths in the trunk to clean the headlights with on 
trips or at home.

Use a good clear plastic polish on them regularly.  Meguiars 
makes a good one, most body shop/paint shops stock it.

Try not to use cleaner/wax on the lenses!  Most auto paint 
cleaner waxes are too aggressive for paint, let aline glass 
or plastic lenses.
