[Shotimes] 7000RPM, Man , I'd have to spin a bearing

Not sure what you mean by "high rpm downshifts". If it's just downshifting
from 5th to 3rd to pass someone, no problem.
If it's to use the engine as a brake.....no good....that what the brakes are
for.
What wears clutches is when they are not fully engaged (well, they don't
wear when they are fully disengaged, but that is rougher on the TOB). I had
ridden with a LOT of people, in SHOs and otherwise, who slip the clutch WAY
more than is necessary, and not just on startup, but also on other shifts.
That's what wears the clutch.
FWIW, here's my SHO clutch history for clutches that I've had for awhile.
Only relevant for the old '89 that I bought new, as I haven't had the clutch
in this '94 long enough (nor did I own the '95 log enough).
'89 - Factory 9.25" clutch: Died at 32k, along with the original tires.
Lotsa burnouts & some dragstrip use.
'89 - Factory 9.25" clutch: Replaced original at 32K (new one not out yet).
This one was still fine at about 55K when
I got Ford to replace it with the new 9.75"
clutch & flywheel
'89 - Factory 9.75" clutch: Lasted from 55K to about 133K, when I broke a
strap on a 1-2-1 shift at the SHOcago Convention
dragstrip. When disassembled, it was pretty worn, but probably would have
gone 85-90K.
'89 - HiRevs Jr.: SHO Shop clutch installed at 135K. Still good at 182 K
when I sold the car, replaced at about 195K by the
new owner.

I love driving the SHOs this way, but does it lead to clutch problems or
are high RPM downshifts really more of the problem? After all the clutch
issues I've seen with the two SHOs I don't want to be doing a clutch job for
a long time...(but I want to enjoy them!)
