[Shotimes] Have bearings, Will Travel!

I replaced rods and mains in the wife's 93 at 160,000. #4 Rod had spun but
there was no damage to the crank. The mains were fine but since we were in
there we decided to go ahead and do it since (as Doug Lewis tells us) we
keep cars for a bazillion miles. The mains are no different than any other
auto engine with the locating notch. We gave them a little push on the end
opposite the notch and they spun right out. It was truly easy to do. Doug
and I did rods, mains, rings and put on a set of ported and polished heads
in about 12 hours across a weekend.

I'll have to admit that I have not had to do this with the SHO engine but I
have replaced main bearings in other engines without too much trouble.
Most bearings have a locator tab on one end. After you pull the main cap
the upper half of the bearing will usually rotate out fairly easily, tab end
first. In fact you can put your new bearing half on the bottom of the crank
and rotate it to push the old bearing out. I wonder if it wouldn't work the
same way with the SHO engine. Has someone ever tried this?
