[Shotimes] Grommet for Shift cable to tranny

Has any one every replaced the rubber grommet that connects the shift cable 
to the tranny?  My car is a early 91 with the cable shifter and this grommet 
is shot and several times I have found myself on my back in the dirt 
slipping the cable back on.  I spoke with a guy at a Ford dealership today 
and his computer is showing a nut that goes over the cable.  I don't think 
that the pin coming off the tranny is even threaded.  Sorry if this makes no 
sense.  Sometimes its hard to put into words what you see with your eyes.  
Any help is appreciated.
