Oh no, not again! Oh that's right we had this discussion on the V8 list.

While you are correct that there are not cam bearing inserts a la rod
bearing and main bearing, there are cam bearings, they just happen to be
part of the head.

Impossible, since the SHO does not use cam bearings.

Since he ran low on oil, the knocking is from a spun rod bearing or two
(maybe more). Doubt very seriously that it could be just valve shims. Drop
the oil pan, and look at the last couple of rod bearings (#5 & #6, gearbox
side). Also, check the condition of the crank. If it is scored too much, you
need to find a different crank, or have the current crank machined. Then
purchase oversize rod bearings.
