It's not that the pad is pushed to the edge, the pad rests there.
Having a little overhang is useful for racers who need to change pads
during a race.

For OEM usually, yeah.
With the WW's, the calipers/pads ride slightly above the outer edge, so
no
"lip" is made over time.
