"The reason this product was
chosen was because when fresh it has a self healing
property when chipped where paint doesn't.  Most new
cars are using a similar product.  I have been unable
to find a source of this product at the consumer level
for touchup on my car.  Does anyone know the name of
the product or a source?  "

I have a 5 gal pail of a Texaco product called rustproofing compound. It's the
consistency of thick axle grease. I've had it over 20 years, so I'm not sure
if they still make it or not.
