Ian;
It's not even a friction fit.
It is held in place only by the wheel bearing, so it physically can't
separate.
IE: If you cut the rubber boot, and the shaft is disconnected from the hub &
wheel bearing, it should slide all the way apart as if it were on ball
bearings, which it is. That is normal. What is not normal is any griity feel
to the grease, which would mean contamination, and very quickly mean a
destroyed joint from damage. The tolerances are rod bearing tight.
