[Shotimes] Speaker replacement recommendations?

Even though my stalling problem isn't really resolved yet, I'll move on to 
a subject that is a lot more fun to think about -- my plans to upgrade the 
factory speakers in my '93.

Even before I upgrade the factory stereo (that is next, to a CD deck which 
will play MP3's and MPA's), I want to replace my speakers.  The factory 
sound system isn't bad at all, but the speakers do distort at 
less-than-maximum volumes.  I am NOT into the bass-shaking, thumping 
subwoofer sound at all, but I do like my music.  Basically I am looking for 
some speakers with a fairly wide response range, which can handle a 
decently high load without distorting.  I am wanting to replace both the 
front (door) speakers and the rear speakers.  I just want my music to sound 
crisp and undistorted at medium-high volume.

Anyone have any suggestions?
