Actually, you are in error in your assumption that polypropylene
can't hold paint.  With the correct preparation and primer the
painting of polypropylene is highly acceptable.

They are urethane, polypropylene is too slick for paint to stick to. Used as
low friction slides and containers in industrial plants.
