No spring bolts on the ATX. We have the flex pipe to take care of our
springiness.....

But there are hoses in the console.. Vacuum lines if it's a ATX :)

Its just a Flat gasket Steve, clean both sides of the surface and re-mate..
OH you may want to go to Ford though for new spring bolts, living in the
salt belt your odds are pretty high that you will break off these old rusty
ass bolts. You can just use Normal hardware as well, but the spring offers a
little more flex .

Welp, it's official. I'm a moron!

Yesterday when I posted seeking some help for what sounded like some radio
static? Yeah, it was an exhaust leak. Wanna know how I figured that one
out all by myself? Turned off the freakin' radio!!!

Brilliant!

With the radio off I still heard this "hissing", sounded like it was coming
from the console. Knowing that there aren't any hoses running through the
console, I decided it must be underneath the car. I get under there and
have a little look-see, and there's steam forming at the exhaust flange
(where the y-pipe meets the flex piece - ATX remember). Much like when you
can see your hot breath in cold weather, this must be "steam" from the hot
exhaust hitting the cold air.

No wonder the car's been acting funny down low, as if there's no
backpressure ;^)

So, I guess I need a new gasket. Judging by the rusted old hardware, I
should probably replace that too. Problem is, I don't know what this stuff
is called, or where to get it.

Is this AutoZone stuff or should I spend my retirement account to buy OEM
parts?

Thanks as always,
