[Shotimes] 94 ATX no start, thoughts/suggestions?

I'm not even getting a click from the fuel pump, that tied in with the
computer's not wanting to talk to the code scanner tool make me think that
it was something electrical. With a fuel filer plugged, the pump would still
cycle for a second when flipping the key correct?

Change the fuel filter, with no service history at all that's what I would
start with. The pump will shut its self off if it cant pump.

I'm trying to troubleshoot/fix a 94 ATX of some ppllocally I just met. Seems
the car had been running fine up till this point, ocassionally stalling when
first started up when cold, but nothing really earthshattering in the way of
problems. ITs female owned and driven and she doesn't seem the type to beat
on the car in the least. 141k miles, no 60k history, leaky waterpump, but
the car has never stalled while running on the road. Soon as I can get the
car started and running, it's slated for a front 60k, and then a few weeks
later new plugs, wires, and checking the valve lash.

Hooked up my auto x-ray, and the computer doesn't respond 9 times outta 10.
The one time it responded it told me that it had 2 cylinders. So naturally I
said, hmm sounds like a computer issue, pulled my 93 ATX comp, that was
known to work, and pop that in. Nothing, though I forgot my code scanner at
home. But no start regardless. Now duing the attempts to start it, I noticed
that I didn't hear the fuelpump priming, I get under the hood push the
presure valve, gas squirts a little then has someone turn on the car and
crank, no fuel squirting. So I think fuel pump or relay that controls the
pump. I have pretty much ruled ou the pump it self, cause the car would have
started with the residual pressure that was in there, if the computer was
responding.

I'm now looking at the IRMC (if that is the correct term for the relay box
under the emissions cover panel on the radiator support) I swaped that with
the one off my 94 MTX, and still nothing. Part numbers are the same except
that my 94 had a F3D* and the one off thier ATX 94 had F1D* as the prefix.
I've also checked every fuse on the car, cause they thought it might have
been a fuse and I wanted to set that one to rest. So now I'm into believing
that there is something going on with the grounding to that relay module.
I've only just begun learning and tracing wiring from my helms evtm to the
actual cars. So I'm a little lost. Before I tackle that is there anything I
could be overlooking that someone might say "oh that happened to me, this is
what you need to do"?

I really want to get this car running for her, I'd hate to see it go to a
dealer round here, cause from those that I have talked to, they really don't
like seeing SHO's come in for work. I just fear that the car may end up in a
yard someplace if I can get it breathing again :-(

Thanks in advance

Bruce
