Living right across the river from IL, I spend alot of time driving through
there. IL has some wierd laws regarding their interstates anyway, for example
the speed limit is 65 MPH unless your in a motorhome, camper, or pulling a
trailer. I pull trailers through there all the time, both my car trailer and my
car dolly at anywhere from 55-70MPH consistantly and see both local police as
well as State Troopers and have yet to be pulled over. Heck, I've even been
in the far left-hand lane in my grandfathers motorhome, pulling a car behind at
around 65-70 and got passed by the state troopers. Makes me wonder if its
just one of those laws that help them if they REALLY need something to nail you
on, they can, but don't openly enforce it. Over the past summer there was a
strip along I-80 West of Chicagoland about 25 miles or so that was a no passing
zone, with lighted signs every 1/4 mile or so. They never tore it up, but I
did see on several occasions police had people pulled over. I tend to stay
out of the left lane as much as possible anyway, but it'd be nice to know about
this law because there are times (busy metro areas) when I'll simply stay in
the left lanes. I wonder if it applies to those areas.
